Description
Not everything in Osaka is neon lights and wide avenues. This tour was created for travelers who want to discover a more authentic side of the city, without giving up the joy of exploring with an open, curious, and optimistic mindset.
Throughout the route, we combine places full of character: from the serenity of Sumiyoshi Taisha, where we connect with Japan’s ancient roots, to the bold, multicultural energy of Ikuno Korea Town, a neighborhood bursting with life, flavors, and urban culture. And of course, there will also be time to admire the city from above at Abeno Harukas, gaining a deeper understanding of Osaka’s evolution into the modern metropolis it is today.
But if there’s one thing that defines this tour, it’s the food. We step away from the usual tourist paths and dive into local neighborhoods where Osakans themselves eat and enjoy. It’s a dynamic, spontaneous food journey full of discoveries, where you’ll try authentic dishes in places you’d likely never find on your own.
And for those who want to go one step further, we offer an optional traditional arts experience — from pottery to calligraphy or ikebana. A unique opportunity not just to observe Japanese culture, but to experience it with your own hands.
This tour is designed for travelers who want more than just “seeing the sights.” It’s for people who value authenticity, good vibes, surprise, and enjoyment.
Itinerary
Sumiyoshi Taisha
Sumiyoshi Taisha is one of Japan’s oldest and most revered shrines, known for its unique architecture and tranquil setting. The shrine offers a peaceful escape and a deep connection to Japan’s ancient spiritual traditions.
Abeno Harukas
Abeno Harukas is Japan's tallest skyscraper, offering breathtaking panoramic views from its observation deck, luxury shopping, fine dining, and a unique blend of modern architecture and urban sophistication.
Korea Town
Ikuno Korea Town in Osaka is a vibrant cultural hub, known for its lively atmosphere, authentic Korean street food, and shops offering everything from traditional goods to K-pop merchandise. It’s a must-visit spot for food lovers and culture enthusiasts alike.
Off the beaten track food tour
Osaka is Japan’s food capital, but beyond the most touristy areas, there’s an entire local scene waiting to be discovered. We’ll dive into authentic neighbourhoods like Kitahama, Tenma, Kyobashi, and Umeda, where locals themselves eat and enjoy. It’s a dynamic and flexible route designed to taste real flavours in places you won’t find in any guidebook.
Traditional Arts Experience (optional)
If you’d like to take your experience one step further, after the tour you can join a traditional Japanese arts activity such as pottery, calligraphy, or ikebana. It’s not just about observing, it’s about creating and connecting with the culture in a unique, hands‑on way, in an intimate and authentic setting.
We collaborate with Casa Tocoton, a specialized local space where you can enjoy this experience in a warm and genuine environment. We’ll help you choose and coordinate the activity, while the booking and payment are handled directly with them.

Allysa by far is now my favorite person ever! Not only did she really know her stuff for the tour, but the Overall vibe really just felt like a friend showing around her home! She was super accommodating, we had the unfortunate displeasure of having a major delay in our last flight to get to Osaka, and she was able to easily change our time where we would at least get a little bit asleep before!
