We had a very pleasant day in Kobe with our friendly guide, Allysa. We had many fun and interesting conversations about the places Allysa showed us.
Since Allysa has lived in Kobe for a long time, she knew the area very well, and we felt very comfortable and safe throughout the tour.
The meeting point was a little difficult to find, but after contacting Allysa via WhatsApp shortly before the agreed time, we were able to find it. It might have been better to have the meeting point at a train station, for example.
The sake brewery in Kobe was very interesting because it also functioned as a museum. Later, I visited a sake brewery in Shimizu, but it was a modern facility where it was difficult to see the production process because everything takes place inside closed machines.
The other stops in Kobe were also very enjoyable, and the Kobe beef was delicious, although it was only a small sample.
Having a private guide is highly recommended, as they can answer our questions much more thoroughly.

A Customized Tour
Although it took us two hours longer than expected to get through immigration from the ship, Peri was there the whole time and stayed in contact with us via WhatsApp. This was very reassuring, as we knew he hadn’t assumed we were a cancellation.
Obviously, the two-hour delay reduced the time we had together, but Peri explained our options and the time we had available, allowing us to choose our priorities and make the most of the remaining time.
Despite the delay, we had an incredible experience going up Mount Maya and then having dinner at a local restaurant in Kobe. It was somewhere we probably would not have found as tourists on our own, but we really enjoyed trying local specialties and sake before returning to our cruise ship.
It felt like we saw more and had much more fun than those who chose the organized ship tours. Highly recommended!
